I had the pleasure of meeting with some state and local dignitaries when VP Joe Biden came to the port of Savannah today. Some I was familiar with, while there were others I’d never met before. The mayor of Atlanta was a great and approachable fellow, and definitely a friend to Savannah and all of coastal Georgia. The person I was most impressed with though was Edna Jackson, mayor of Savannah. The lady may have made some unpopular local decisions, but she’s a lady and acts like one, and oozes charisma.
Something I couldn’t help but notice though, was there was a pretty diverse political crowd there. It was hot and there was no getting around that for anyone, but everyone was pretty happy. People with names followed by both (D)’s and (R)’s seemed pretty happy with the port and with each other. And it made me feel proud.
